after soup, between snow squalls,
came the art project:
to color in a map of the world, its flora and fauna, printed on stretched canvas, for the baby’s room.
his mama’s keeping it level
while grands and auntie (great) are giddy with this tiny unmet being, still percolating.
everything comes together:
a faded blue europe, screaming orange tiger,
two variegated pine trees, an obsessive dolphin.
we know perfection is not the point.
the universe has aligned, all lift, no weight;
we color our portions
a covenant of joy.
You made the day and the dolphin, my sweet sister!
this one really spoke to me. thank you.
