innocence walked these streets
like a barefoot child, oblivious.
our neighborhood is kempt, and he, the opposite;
there was speculation that
he was eccentric heir to a vast fortune.
in truth, he was an open book,
my neighbor, my friend,
who dropped uncorrupted, like a wild thing,
without having once felt sorry for himself.
I’m so sorry to hear of Gordon’s passing! You were such a sweet and loyal friend to him. He was lucky to have you as his neighbor.
