about amy’s house: you couldn’t miss it
lavendar with dark purple trim.
if you are from here, you know the one i mean.
amy sold it as-was and as it has stayed
up to now, when the new owners (i’m guessing) saved enough to scrape the purple down to bare wood
and painted it a gray quiet as a cipher,
unless you know to fill in amy,
working in the garden, or sitting by her koi pond
cursing the woodchuck who eats her tomatoes.
of course you’d know her laugh, and there’s that,
from a scrounged plastic chair,
her teeth breaking the skin of a purple bean that underneath is green,
and still alive.
I do miss her laugh!!
This is delicious. We all need more color in our lives.
