my shoes forgive my bunions, and i have kleenex up my sleeve.
i dance only when I feel like it.
i used to be a show-off, pretty spectacular, really, but this is not about me, and it never was. (don’t try telling that to then-me or them, now. best to be pleasantly surprised.)
i get to watch my children, grown, see the way they look at their partners, their babies, like they invented the tsunami.
from the sidelines, close, i take in the whole field, players in action, the adoring crowd. i still get called in,
small sun turned lucky planet, shining steady.
