Funny- the friend I had lunch with yesterday to me she also felt like she was going to drift off behind the wheel! Cheddar, fig, and arugula sandwiches grilled in butter are delicious but yes, filling and sleep-inducing. I'm so glad you survived your post-prandial pass-out. You gotta love those barrels!
I thought it was just me! I have never been one to take naps, but at times recently have found myself unable to keep my eyes open midday. It must be because we’re both brunettes. 😉
Glad you are ok. A filling lunch could make you tired. In my 20’s, had a similar experience on the interstate! I believe hitting a metal lane closed barrel actually saved my life!
Very glad that you are safe and woke up in time! Reading your story I'm reminded of a similar experience I had a few years back after a 12 hour night shift. Stark reminder of how fragile life is and therefore why we should treasure/ enjoy it.
I was at the edge of my seat reading that! So glad you are okay. Your writing always makes me feel like I'm right next to you, experiencing it all. I probably would have put on a song like Funkytown to keep us both awake!

That's it, Jane! Mystery solved!
I’m so glad you arrived home safely. ❤️
Davinia, yours is the best takeaway from a close call experience- life is fragile and precious. I think that's where I've landed, too!
